Take Care of Your Hair in the Summer Sun

There is nothing worse than having your hair beautifully coloured before going away on holiday and returning with a completely different colouring due to the sun! OR going on holiday and coming back with hair that looks and feels like straw... NOT hot.

Below are my top tips on how to look after your hair in these coming summers months...

What is the best way to protect your hair colour?

To prevent your hair from fading, cover your hair by wearing a hat or scarf as these offer the best protection. Each time you apply sun cream, apply a UV protection hair spray as this will offer great protection and will include an anti-oxidant which will replenish moisture levels in the hair.

You also don’t want your hair to look dry in the sun. We recommend using a colour shampoo and conditioner like Bed Head Colour Goddess, which prevents your hair from losing its healthy shine and will safeguard it from fading.

How do I keep my hair hydrated?

A great tip is to moisturise your hair by applying a conditioner to it while you lay in the sun. This will help stop the colour fading and will feel wonderful once you rinse. If you have curly hair that feels deprived in the heat, then use Catwalk Curlesque Hydrating Conditioner. This fab product locks in moisture as the aloe soothes and smoothes the curl, leaving the shine to help define the shape of the curl naturally, bringing the best look out of your hair. Review: Redken Quick Tease

They call it ‘backcomb in a can’ and they couldn’t be more right!

My hair is flat, there’s no way around it, it just doesn’t have natural volume so when we got Redken’s Quick Tease into the salon, I jumped at the chance to review it.

Directions: Spray 8-12 inches from dry, styled hair for control or mist directly onto roots for an enhanced lift.

This spray is absolutely amazing! It really is backcomb in a can, I sprayed it directly onto my root hair line and simply pumped it up with my hands and it stayed in place. Although it can feel quite rough and tough in your hair – it ensures that you have volume throughout the whole night.

I would definitely recommend this to any girl who needed an instant lift – it achieves the same look if you backcomb your hair. My best advice would be to section your hair and spray onto the hairline each time building up volumous layers.

This volumising finish spray boosts the body of any girls hair!
