  • Prepare your skin for spring

It is now the end of February and spring fashion is entering our stores. With many cute crop tops, skirts and dresses on trend, we must prepare our skin to be exposed!

For those of you who don’t fake tan or use any other form of tanning agent, it is a good idea to exfoliate those pins of yours before seeing the great outdoors. Thalgo have an incredible Exotic Island Body Scrub (on offer at the moment) which is great to replenish your skin after the long winter. It will take you to paradise without leaving the comfort of your home. With real sand from Bora Bora, the sea salt and coconut shell gently exfoliates your body. It contains Monoi and jojoba oils with tahitian vanilla extracts, leaving your skin feeling silky smooth.

After exfoliating and getting your skin ready for the gleaming sunshine, use a skin brightener such as Thalgo Soothing Brightening Fluid to make your skin look plumper, refreshed and looking younger. The fluid helps boost the production of the youth proteins and helps regulate melanogenesis. These products help to make your skin look luminous with an impressive matte finish to stop you looking shiny in the sun.

Using a facial exfoliator is great to refresh your skin in the most delicate areas. Massage the products gently into your skin to get the circulation going around your facial muscles. Doing this will allow your blood to circulate, bringing colour to the surface of your skin.

A great piece of make up to get you ready for summer is a brightener, used under the eye, it lifts and erases any tired bags, brightening your face without using any foundation. Using gold or silver eyeliner around the inner corner of the eye will brighten the eyes too. Another tip to making your eyes look bigger, use a white liner along the waterline of your eye as this will add to the illusion your eyes are bigger and brighter.

To give your skin a natural looking glow before exposing it to the sun, why not use St Tropez body moisturiser before applying the St Tropez Gradual Tan to ensure a seamless stroke free finish whilst gaining  a golden glow to get you confidence ready.

So there you have it, let your skin be ready for spring so you can be proud and show off your gorgeous pins!

  • Review: Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask

Lots of you have been asking me about hair masks and how to use them so I decided this week to review the Moroccanoil Restorative hair mask.

Moroccanoil hair mask Moroccanoil hair mask

My hair is quite dry at the ends and I always feel like it needs a bit more moisture. Described as ‘for weak and damaged hair’, I thought this mask would be the best suited for my locks right now.

The reconstructive formula, which is rich in argan oil and vegetable protein, is meant to penetrate deeply to help restore your hairs elasticity.

To use: first wash your hair with shampoo. Then, apply a generous amount to towel dried hair and comb through. Let it soak in for 5-7 minutes and rinse and finish with conditioner.

You’re meant to use it once a week to begin with and less frequently when your hair improves.

The first time I used the hair mask, I have to admit, I saw a huge difference. My hair was so unbelievably smooth, it was soft to touch and fell out of my hands. I really couldn’t believe the difference.

I have now been using the mask once a week for 4 weeks and I have seen such an improvement. The ends of my hair are now silkier and look healthier. Plus, it smells delicious!

I would not hesitate to recommend this hair mask – try it out ladies!

  • My Top Skin Tips

Your skin really has a hard time in winter. The weather can dry it out and make it feel sore. So, I thought I’d share my top skin tips, which would help when looking after your skin this season.

    Moisturised-skin

    Be Sun Smart!

We all know how rare it is to see the sun in these winter months but just because the sun isn’t shining doesn’t mean you’re safe from the UV rays.

UV rays are present even on the most overcast days so make sure everyday you are protecting your skin with SPF. UV exposure can cause your skin to age quicker too! Nobody wants that so use SPF when you can even if its just in your everyday moisturiser or foundation.

Try Garnier Ambre Solaire BB Sun Face Protection.

    Ageing Skin

When should you worry about ageing skin? I get this question all the time…

Obviously preparing to prevent ageing skin is always good but the reality is, our skin is ageing from the second you are born! It’s all about what your skin is exposed to like UV rays. In your early teen years, invest in a good daily sunscreen. Like I said above, use a primer or foundation that has some SPF in for everyday.

In your 30s and 40s, it’s good to invest in antioxidant vitamins, which will help to keep damage in your skin under control. In your 50s and 60s, use skin repairing products to keep your skin in tip top condition.

Try Thalgo Exceptional Ultimate Time Solution Cream.

    Oily Skin

So many girls ask me if they need to moisturise their skin when it’s oily, even in the winter. My answer is simple - YES. Just because your skin has excess oil doesn’t mean it has enough water or moisture.

Your skin still needs a moisturiser even if its lightweight to keep your skin refreshed and hydrated.  There are oil free moisturisers that can help your skin, but be careful when using teen spot fighting products. They can be packed full of artificial colour and fragrance that can aggravate your oily skin further.

Try L'oreal Paris Triple Active Day Light Moisturiser.

    Uneven makeup?

Everyone hates uneven or patchy make up, do you find your make up to be like this by lunchtime?

Your skin could be dry or dehydrated. It’s soaking up any moisture that it can find – including your make up.  Be sure to hydrate and moisturise your face daily. You can also try to use a silicone base product, which will even out the moisture content in your skin.

Try Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation.

    Chapped Lips

I don’t know about you but in winter my lips suffer most. They become cracked and dry which is not only annoying when applying make up but its also very sore.

Exposure to cold weather and even central heating can cause the skin around your lips to dehyrate and retain skin cells which create that fabulous chapped look. So, too cold or too hot?! Its sounds like a loose loose situation but simple changes can prevent this. The best thing to use is an SPF based lip balm.

These classic petroleum jelly base lip balms and coloured/perfumed ones reduce natural skin oils and encourage you to lick your lips making them more dry in the overall outcome…don’t be fooled!

Make sure you're skin smart this winter, keep moisturised and hydrated as much as possible. Create a routine every morning and night which incorpates cleansing and moisterising. I promise you, your skin will thank you for it!
