  • Double-up!

Tis the season of summer holidays – sun, sea, sand, beaches, nights out – the list goes on.  We all love these summer times – but we all like to ensure we are looking our best – and sometimes (most of the time for us girls) that depends on  lots of different products. This is fine when you are at home, but when you are travelling there are generally weight restrictions on luggage , so here are some tips on how to double up the use of your favourite products and save room in your suitcase!

    Double up

    Leave in conditioner

I would say for most girls taking conditioner on holiday is a must. The salt from the sea water, chlorine from the pool and the UV rays of the sun are a bit of a recipe for hair disaster – and conditioner is a must to help tame knotty tresses.

You don’t need to take another bottle of leave in conditioner; you can simply use a small amount of normal conditioner. I would advise you to use a little amount and just on the ends of your hair that tend to get driest.

    Vaseline

A teeny tiny pot of Vaseline can be used in so many ways.

    • Use as a cuticle oil. Vaseline works really well to help soften dry skin around your nails and can help strengthen nails. Whilst on holiday nails are sometimes weakened due to unfamiliar conditions such as sun and sea water
    • Use as eye brightener. Vaseline can help you create a really fresh and dewy look which is perfect for summer evenings. Simply pop some Vaseline to your lids for a dewy and radiant glow.
    • Use as a highlighter. Dab Vaseline along your cheek bones to highlight. This again will give a dewy and radiant look!

    Shaving cream

A razor is pretty essential on holiday to keep your legs looking fab, however a big can of shaving foam could take up some precious suitcase space. Swap your standard razor for one with built in foaming strips to save you some space.

    Dry shampoo

Talcum powder is a great way to leave your skin feeling cool and soothed after a hot day at the beach. You can also use it in between washes in the same way that you would use dry shampoo. That’s another thing off your list!

    Beauty Oil

Beauty oils are fairly new to the beauty industry but  are a really fab product.  Use them as a moisturiser to hydrate dry skin, but also as a shimmer fying agent. Most beauty oils will give your skin a really glossy glow and this is perfect for ensuring your skin looks its best during your holiday.

    Have an amazing time! xoxo

  • The perfect Easter day look

It’s nearly Easter, which means two glorious days off work and also lots of chocolate! It also means meeting all the family for a big lunch or dinner, some that you might not have seen since last Easter so you need to look your best!

This year, it’s all about the simple, natural look.

    Natural Every-Day Look

Gone are the days of heavy eye shadow and scouse brows – this Easter you should look healthy, glowing and radiant and I’m going to tell you exactly how to get that look!

    • Start by cleaning your face of any old make-up then apply a light face moisturiser.
    • Instead of using foundation, use either a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream. These blend in well and also give coverage. They also even out your skin tone and don’t look too heavy. Plus, they are great for you skin!
    • Next, apply concealer to any blemishes or dark circles around your eyes. Make sure its not too dark or light for your skin, otherwise it will really stand out and be obvious.
    • After, apply a powder on the oilier parts of your face, blending it until it looks like your skin tone. Be sure to go underneath your jaw line and onto your neck, nobody likes foundation marks! It should look natural like you aren’t wearing any makeup!
    • Follow by applying either bronzer or blusher. I always prefer bronzer as I like to look a little bit more tanned and look like I have a natural glow. Slide the powder just along your cheekbones and t-zone. Don’t over do it – orange is not cute!
    • Now for eyes, use either dark brown or black eyeliner. You only need a small line on your top lid to accentuate your eyes and follow by mascara. I always like to use lots of mascara if I don’t have much eyeliner on as they make your eyes look a lot bigger.
    • Finally finish with a gorgeous natural colour lip-gloss or lipstick. Don’t have one? Just use Vaseline!

And there you have it, a gorgeous natural make-up look for Easter lunch for dinner with the fam! Guaranteed to make you look glowing!

  • St Tropez tanning lotion review

I wanted to try a tan that would give me a nice glow – but nothing too orange (obviously!). I opted for St. Tropez – as its known for being one of the best tans out there.

I prepped my skin so the tan would look as good as possible. This involved exfoliating and moisturising – paying attention to elbows, knees and heels.  I used a mitt to also help work the tan in, for an even coverage.

I was using the classic tanning lotion. You apply before you go to bed and wash off in the morning. The lotion itself is really dark – but don’t worry that’s just the guide colour so you can see where you have applied it. It is not the colour you will be finished with. You will look much darker before you go to bed than when you wash it off in the morning.

The lotion is easy to apply and spreads quite evenly. I have used tans in the past which stick a bit to your skin and are hard to rub in evenly – but the St. Tropez lotion was really easy to apply. As I said before I used a mitt to ensure the tan spread out well and that I didn’t get orange palms! Tip – in order to tan the tops of your hands use the residue of what is left on the mitt and gently wipe over hands. Do not apply more lotion to the mitt as you will get really orange knuckles and funny lines. Do the same when tanning your feet too!

The smell of the tan is pretty similar to other tans – that biscuity smell. It perhaps is a little bit less fake tan smelling than the cheaper fake tans – but a fake tan smell is still there. There is still a very subtle smell of tan even after you have showered the next day but I actually quite like the smell of tan so I don’t mind!

I applied my tan 4 days ago and it is still looking good; even and streak free. If I was to top up I would say once a week is enough.

Overall I really liked the St.Tropez tanning lotion. I would be keen to try the mousse next time so I will let you know how I get on. Below is my before and after from the tanning lotion :)
